That’s right, the very first antibiotic was accidentally discovered in 1928. Scottish biologist, Alexander Fleming, left his petri dish out in his lab whilst studying staphylococcus. Returning, he found it filled with dead bacteria!
He found that the bacteria died by lysing. The same way penicillin kills bacteria.
